Lillehei Heart Institute Scientist Rita Perlingeiro, PhD, from the Division of Cardiology, has been recognized by the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases for her research into treating Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy by converting skin cells to healthy muscle cells.
The National Institutes of Health recognized Dr. Demetris Yannopoulos, Associate Professor of Cardiology and Interventional Cardiologist at the University of Minnesota Physicians Heart, with a Transformative Research Award for his work in injury protection in the administration of CPR.
